The Talatal Ghar was initially built as an army base. It houses two secret tunnels, and three floors below ground level which were used as exit routes during the Ahom conflicts with other kingdoms. This is made of brick and an indigenous type of cement The Talatal Ghar had two secret tunnels. One, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) in length, connected the Talatal Ghar to the Dikhow River, while the other, 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) long, led to the Garhgaon Palace, and was used as an escape route in case of an enemy attack.

A major tourist attraction in the state of Assam is Shiva Dol. Located in the Sivasagar district, this place happens to be one of the most famous pilgrimage spots in the country as well. Vishnu Doul, a brick-built temple constructed by Namatial Bhagati Barbarua in the year 1775 A.D. during the reign of Swargadeo Gourinath Singha (1780 -1794) located at Namti Ali, 18 Kilometers away from Sivasagar Town . The sikhara of the temple is decorated with vertical and horizontal lines. These lines intersect at angles to provide ornamental arrangements.

Charaideo was the capital of the Ahom dynasty which was built by a person named Sukhapa. It is located at about a distance of 28 kms from Sibsagar. This place is commonly called as ‘Pyramids of Assam.’ It is situated at the foothills of Nagaland. The place contains many burial grounds of the Ahom rulers and their queens which are considered to be very holy. There are about 42 tombs of the kings and queens at the hill top of Charaideo.

The Dakhinpat Satra is a very popular satra on the Majuli Island of the state of Assam. This Satra was established in the year 1584 by Vamshigopal who was a disciple of Sri Vanamalidev. Sukapha Samannay Kshetra in a memorial built in the memory of Sukapha, the first Ahom king of Assam. The Sukapha Samannay Kshetra is situated near Mohbandha near Jorhat and Dergaon. Sukapha was the founder of the Ahom kingdom which continued to exist for nearly six hundred years. A Thai prince, Sukapha came to the region crossing the Patkai range. He is the main person who initiated the unification of the tribal and the non-tribal people of the region. The Sukaphas Samannay Kshetra was built as an attempt to highlight and preserve the remarkable leadership of Sukapha. There are thus several things of interest to be seen at the Sukapha Samannay Kshetra.

Bordowa or Bordowa Satra is a shrine, a centre of art and culture and is the birthplace of a great litterateur, artist, dramatist and founder of Vaishnav dharma in Assam. It is around 140 km away from the town of Guwahati and is 18 km north-west from Nagaon district of Assam. The Bordowa Satra is founded by great saint Sankardeva after his return from his first pilgrimage in about 1494 A.D. He found the first Namghar or Kirtanghar at Bordowa and used that place to practice and preach the newly found faith in Puran and Bhagwat. He used to call the place as Thaan or Dham and not Satra which was later called to be as such.

Manas National Park in Assam is a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site, a tiger and elephant reserve, and a biosphere reserve. The Assam State Zoo was established in the year 1957 and was open to public in the year 1958. Spreads over an area of 175 hectare, the zoo is located within the Hengrabari Reserved Forest area of Guwahati. Initially, it had 42 animals and 236 birds. Madan Kamdev is an archaeological site located at Baihata Chairali in Kamrup district of Assam. Also known as Mini Khajuraho of Assam, it is one of the popular places of heritage in Assam and among the must visit Guwahati Tourist Places. Spreads over a length of half a kilometer, Madan Kamadev complex has ruins of 13 temples. Madan Kamdev Temple is the main temple, which displayed a sculpture of Lord Shiva with his consort Parvati. Elephant Falls are amongst the most popular falls in the North-East, situated next to Shillong. It is a tourists' paradise with three layers of the falls accessible to the layman from different vantage points. The Britishers named this fall so owing to the presence of an elephant-shaped rock on one side of the fall. However, the stone disintegrated and was washed away due to an earthquake in 1897. Elephant Waterfalls is a superb place for spending some time in the midst of nature while capturing the incredible moments for your keepsake.
